This was the final design work from a one week project during my first year of university. The project was to design a product that is built predominantly from plastic to be used in areas of disaster. The idea of this product is that it is a space saving stretcher that can be transported by a single person. It has a telescoping extension built into it that allows it to be shrunk for carrying on the back, and the ABS vacuum formed shell is designed in such a way that allows it to nest easily together with other stretchers to save space during shipping.
This project had quite an interesting brief, and when generating ideas at the start, I really wanted to avoid cliche ideas like water filters and such. The stretcher went through a wide variety of different forms to begin with, which I will likely upload at a later date. This was done in the seventh week of my first year at De Montfort university.
